Vessel Internals – Mud Washing

Mackenzie Hydrocarbons recommends the use of mud/sand washing facilities in most oil-patch vessels, in particular first stage separators. Our experience is that vessels incorporating mud wash headers stay on line longer, experience less maintenance problems and achieve better separation of fluids. The mud-washer header is installed in an “H” design with high pressure spray nozzles directing the wash water towards the vessel walls. Flushing mud from vessels with the mud-wash system is an intermittent operation with frequency of mud-washing depending on operating experience.
